Trending Tuesday

I’ve always been partial to neutrals; they’re effortless and I already have a bright pop of color everywhere I go (ginger probz). When I’m up early before work, I reach first for the neutral pieces in my wardrobe that I know will go together in a pinch. I’ve been seeing a lot of head-to-toe neutrals happening all over the interwebs, so I rounded up a few pieces for this week’s Trending Tuesday PLUS some inspiration from a few of my favorite bloggers.

April Instagram Style Me Challenge

20140405-162129.jpg

Lately, I’ve really been needing a burst of inspiration for outfits. After my first 6 months in the real world (aka the post-college world), I feel that it’s getting a bit harder each day to think of a cute outfit for my full-time office job. It’s not even that I want to make every outfit the most trendy, it’s just simply that I want to WANT to look pulled together. The past few weeks have really just been me reserving only about 10 minutes each morning to throw something that’s office-appropriate on.

So, anywho, I’m hoping this #StyleMeApril challenge will inspire some new wardrobe thoughts and dissuade me from impulse shopping. And so far, I definitely have had to get up a littler earlier each morning to brainstorm each theme. :)

Here are the days & outfits so far!

Day 1: Skirting Around Town
20140405-162811.jpg
{ Incidentally had plans to go to a local bar called The Town Pump with friends. Faux-leather skirt with laser cutouts from a local boutique, slouchy grey shirt from Forever 21, & cognac cutout booties – a new fave from Dillard’s }

Day 2: Neutrals & A Pop of Color
20140405-162820.jpg
{ Was wanting to do a whole neutral outfit with colorful heels or flats, but guess what..? I. ONLY. OWN. NEUTRAL. SHOES. WHAT! Soooo… Ended up with a thin grey sweater from Express, HUE black jeggings (yes, jeggings), and classic black flats from Target, and my pop of color was an old Urban Outfitters yellow button down }

{ Details – DIY necklace & gold chain on the flats }

Day 3: Oh Hello Sailor
20140405-162832.jpg
{ Another wardrobe realization: The only nautical-themed items I own are stripes. No anchors… No rope bracelets… Le sigh. However, I do love stripes. American Eagle striped shirt, black pencil skirt from Forever 21, & black Olsenboye studded booties from JCPenney }

Day 4: Day to Night
20140405-162838.jpg
{ This day was surprisingly difficult! And honestly, it was almost like a pushover day because I just told myself I could wear basically anything and just pair it with heels later. But to be a bit less lazy, I made myself look up some day-to-night inspiration and really loved the idea of a bright scarf with a v-neck for day. White tee, probably from Old Navy, army green Chelsea & Violet pants from Dillard’s, floral scarf, black flats for day & nude pumps for night }

Hopefully each day I will post just that day’s outfit only rather than several at a time. That way I can write more about each day’s theme/outfit/blah blah, you know. :)

Happy April!
