Trending Tuesday

Bringing back my weekly Trending Tuesday with a trend that I’ve been seeing all over the blogosphere, but that I haven’t bought into until just a few weekends ago: suede. I’ve been crazily on the hunt for a faux-suede skirt and FINALLY found one (exact one but in black!). Below are a few suede and faux-suede pieces that are perfect to inject into your fall wardrobe (all under $50 too).

1. Cupshe Faux-Suede Button-Down Skirt – I have loved these everywhere; seriously, anyone and everyone can and should wear this this fall. I’m partial to the tan/camel colored ones and have paired mine with a white button down so far. Similar options here – olive green! – and here.

2. Old Navy Suede Lace-Up Flats – This summer I grabbed up some lace-up sandals, and I’m falling all over again for this lace-up trend for fall too. Le sigh. Poor bank account. For a more neutral version: try these out.

3. Forever 21 Faux-Suede V-Neck Dress – This looks and feels even better in person, and the big pockets give it a cool vibe. Be aware that it is truly a shift shape, so wouldn’t be able to work on everyone. For that reason, here are some fit-and-flare versions: here and here.

4. Forever 21 Pointed Zip-Up Booties – The full suede/faux-suede texture amps up this classic style a bit, and the zip is a nice touch too. I’ve always loved F21 shoes and have never had any issues with something being too low quality. I treat my shoes really nicely though, as you should, so yea.:)

5. Asos New Look 70’s Suedette Saddle Bag – Love, love, love. I’ve been on the hunt for a “mini” bag, and love the saddle shape on this one. Plus, that hardware. <3

Anyone else on the hunt for suede/faux-suede pieces for fall? I’m kind of obsessed at the moment. Helpppp.

Fall Wish List

image

It’s only natural to want to add new items to your wardrobe with each new season. But it certainly feels overwhelming and frustrating to constantly feel the need to shop and “keep up” with other bloggers or stylish people in general. I’m feeling that frustration even more so now that I have a car payment to make (um, but now I have a new car, so, I’ll be fine), and my shopping budget is now nonexistent. In order to stay sane… and because I like to make collages… here’s my fall wish list! Emphasis on the wish

1. Steve Madden Hooded Wrap Coat

2. Vince Camuto Asha Leopard Satchel

3. BaubleBar Gold Pyramid Ear Crawlers

4. Sperry Top-Side Saltwater Waterproof Duck Booties

5. BaubleBar Four Points Pendant Necklace

6. Zara Check and Striped Scarf

Last year’s winter wish list still looks pretty relevant! What can I say? I’m a creature of habit and cozy scarves.

Review: October Birchbox

Every month for the past 2 years, I’ve received my Birchbox in the mail and delighted in opening up the colorful boxes to find surprise samples. While some have been hits and some have been misses, I’ve enjoyed each of these Birchbox mail days and have always wanted to post reviews on Striped Flats. So, now that October is over (*tear*), here are my thoughts on the October Birchbox.

imageThis month’s box was focused on positive force, specifically toward cancer awareness and breast cancer research. I am positively obsessed with the pink marblized box (haa, see what I did there).

imageOscar de la Renta Flor Eau de Parfum –> I loveddd this scent. So much so that it might be my next perfume purchase.

imageW3LL PEOPLE Expressionist Mascara –> This month subscribers could pick out a mascara from a few different choices. I decided to go with this mascara because I haven’t owned an all-natural version before. So far, I’ve liked the unique wand and little to no clumping!

imageBorghese Fango Purificante Clay Cleanser –> I loved how this made my skin feel when I was using it. Haven’t seen any immediate effects, but definitely going to continue. Also, it is an easy and quick way to try out the clay beauty trend.

imageToo Cool For School Dinoplatz Highlighter –> Highlighters are a new tool for me, and, that being said, I’m certainly no expert as to how to use them to their full capability. However, I love the color right out of this mini tube, and it provided a nice, subtle gleam.

imageDavines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner –> I’ve been feeling a little bummed/frustrated at all the mini samples of shampoo/conditioner that I receive, just because I feel like I get them in EVERY other box. I haven’t tried this combo out yet (I usually save these samples for traveling), but I was intrigued by the “smoothing” factor and actually look forward to see if these have any good results!
